Lets Get Some Turkey!

Even from the beginning of WWI, the country of Turkey never wanted to be in the war. The Turkey people broke from an alliance of three (which was made up of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy). However, Germany, who needed more troops, offered to help restore anything that could be lost. There were a lot of smaller wars that Turkey was a part of aside from The Great War. The British ended up with making an alliance with Turkey and the Central Powers as they all were entering the war in 1914. “The Turkish armed forces performed well during the Gallipoli campaign and drove back and captured an entire British expeditionary force at Kut-al-Imara in Iraq.” That campaign with the goal of trying to capture the Suez Canal and Egypt was unsuccessful. Later in 1915-1916, the Russians invaded eastern and central Anatolia with power and force. But then their campaign was brought to an end in 1917 by a Bolshevik Revolution. All of these foreign invasions were brought on by internal revolts, famine, starvation, and disease. From all of these wars and attaches, there was ¼ of the population that were killed.
